Frosh post

These are the best years of your life; be ready. Always remember that, no matter what happens. When you have to stay up till midnight or later working on homework, these are the best years of your life. When your friends go their separate ways and you end up in social limbo, these are the best years of your life. When you put everything you’re worth into a goal and still fall short, these are the best years of your life. One day you will look back on this all so fondly. You will just sit alone in a dark room and think back nostalgically on the petty social ordeals, the mindless tedium, the mind-warping stress of rejection, the thinking every single day “God, get me out of here or kill me now.” And you will know, “those were the best years of my life.”

they say college is the best years of your life too... I think people just forget how hard life was and think it is worse currently just so that they don't have to feel guilty about whining about how hard life is and to allow them to hope for better, because if life wasn't hard at one point than maybe it will be easy again later. I could, of course be wrong, it is possible that some people forget how to live happily after a while and they stay with what is easy and "responsible" when they can be responsible and happy with a little risk and by understanding what is really important and what is not crucial.

A rather sardonic approach...well crafted, repetition, etc. I think it actually has an underlying element of empathy for the inevitable conflicts that seem so important at the time, that in retrospect, mean very little.
